Today we enjoyed some time in one of our air-conditioned storage spaces as we gathered for our Pottery Seminar. Volunteers learned all about ancient pottery found on the site. They were then challenged to match pottery sherds to drawings of complete vessels. It’s impressive how much we can deduce from a pottery sherd with a rim, handle, base and/or other diagnostic features intact.
