Day Eleven
No matter which excavation area someone works in, the dirt must be removed. Some grids, we’re looking at you Grid 94, have a more scenic walk to their dumps than others do.
When not carting away the dirt, volunteers can often be found sweeping it. While being asked to “sweep the dirt to make it clean,” may sound strange, doing so is an important daily task. Sweeping allows us to see lines and to discern different depositional layers.
You never know what the dirt might reveal.
