Refund Policy
3- and 6-week Digs
Before Program Start
Prior to the current season’s documentation due date, a volunteer may cancel and all deposits and payments will be refunded. After this date, deposits and payments are not refundable, except to the extent they have not already been contractually committed to outside parties. Please note that the exact amount of refund, if any, may not be determinable until the end of the program and all expenses have been reconciled.
After Program Start
Volunteers who voluntarily withdraw from the program after it has begun or leave before the official end date for reasons other than a serious illness or death in the immediate family will receive no refund.
Volunteers who are dismissed from a program for disciplinary reasons will receive no refund. In such cases, the volunteer will also be responsible for all costs to return home.
No refund will be made for volunteers who must withdraw during a program due to a known serious illness of condition that the volunteer failed to disclose in a timely manner during the pre-departure process. In such cases, the volunteer will also be responsible for all costs to return home.
In the event that a volunteer must withdraw during a program in progress due to a serious illness or death of an immediate family member, the program will refund only recoverable costs. The amount of the refund may not be determinable until the end of the program.
If the excavation is forced to cancel the program (for example, because of issues connected to COVID-19 or to the security of the team), all payments will be refunded, either completely (if something happens before program start) or on a prorated basis based upon the amount of time we have been in the country (after program start).
1-Week Dig
Before Program Start
The fees for the 1-Week Dig, also known as the Tel Shimron Experience, are broken into three installments.
The $500 deposit is not refundable after the deposit due date. Prior to the deposit due date, if a volunteer must withdraw from the program, the deposit will be refunded.
The second installment (amount varies by room occupancy) is not refundable after the second installment due date. Prior to the second installment due date, if a volunteer must withdraw from the program, the second installment will be refunded. However, if the withdrawal date is after the deposit due date, then the deposit will not be refunded.
The final installment (amount varies by room occupancy) is not refundable after the final installment due date. Prior to the final installment due date, if a volunteer must withdraw from the program, the final installment will be refunded. However, if the withdrawal date is after the deposit and second installment due dates, then the deposit and the second installment will not be refunded.
After Program Start
The policy for the 1-week Dig will be the same as for the 3- and 6-week Digs.
