Weekends in the Field

Megiddo

A field season at Tel Shimron isn’t all work and no rest and relaxation. While the Monday-Friday schedule is a busy one, with the day stretching from 5:00 am until 7:30 pm when dinner wraps up, the weekends move at a slower pace. Saturday and Sunday are for sleeping in, reading a book or watching a movie, and recharging. Also, field trips. Throughout the field season, members of the professional staff lead volunteers on guided tours of nearby archaeological sites.

Educational and fun, these field trips are a definite highlight of the season and a great way to learn about the history and archaeology of the region.
