We are excavating summer 2021

We are excited to announce that we are planning an excavation season at Tel Shimron this summer! After more than year of isolation, we are particularly eager to travel again and can’t wait to get back in the dirt. Time is short, space is limited, but we are accepting applications until the 10th of May.

Under current guidelines (subject to change), All participants will have to show proof of vaccination in order to be able to enter Israel. For a two-shot sequence, the second shot would need to be taken no later than June 4. Additionally, a PCR test will be required within 72 hours of departure, and upon arrival, additional PCR and serology tests will be administered.

We will leave on June 21 or 22 on the same flight from the United States. We are currently arranging the details, but we will be on a group flight.

The program will end on August 4, and we will return to the United States together (for part time people, see below).

Our group can only be 50 people in size, including the professional staff. Priority will be given to those people who are staying for the full six weeks. If we have space remaining, we will allow three and a half week volunteers. We cannot offer a second three-week session in July at this time because of Israel’s restrictions on individual tourists entering the country.

We hope you are as excited as we are to get back to excavating and answering questions about ancient life on Tel Shimron.
